@not.shipsnavigator began as a way to challenge myself as a producer and content creator.

In December of 2025 I filmed, edited, and published 31 short-form videos across both Instagram and TikTok, amassing 100K views and 1.6K followers in one month.

Inspired by “Inktober” and other popular art challenges, I came up with “Deckcember”: a challenge in which I would build one Commander deck for every single day in the month of December. Editing and creating videos has always been an outlet for the things I love — and I was really beginning to love Magic. That love gave me the push to start recording and the confidence to hit “post.”

How many librarians does it take to roll initiative?

Overdue Adventures is an ongoing podcast and video series that I created for Nashville Public Library.

After the 2020 pandemic, libraries struggled finding ways to bring new programming to patrons when they could no longer meet in-person. In response to this need, Nashville Public Library (NPL) developed NPL Universe, an online programming sphere where library staff were encouraged to create digital content and alternative programs.

Inspired by the storytelling skills of my library coworkers, I developed, directed, and edited this actual-play series for NPL. It was a perfect storm — NPL was already outfitted with a professional podcasting studio that I had been working in for years, and had recently acquired the local public access TV station (NECAT) as a division of the library. The NECAT staff supported my vision for the series and taught me broadcast production, as my prior experience had been in podcasting or stand-alone video projects.
